Course Description
The NRA Basic Pistol Safety Course is designed to teach individuals the essential skills and knowledge for safe and responsible pistol handling.
At the end of the class, students will receive a NRA Basic Pistol Course Certificate of Completion. This course and certificate meet the requirement for a Massachusetts Basic Firearms Safety Course.
This is a Live Fire Class. Half of the course will be conducted in the classroom and live fire will be conducted at the Pistol Range. There is NO Live Ammunition Allowed in the Classroom.

- Different types of pistols
- The basics of ammunition
- The fundamentals of pistol shooting
- Different shooting positions
- The most common shooting errors
- Proper gun cleaning and maintenance
What to Expect for the Day
Call or Text with any questions prior to or Morning of
Parking
- Lookout for the signs - Arrive at the main clubhouse and park on paved areas (overflow parking across the street)
Bring
- A Positive Engaging Attitude
- Pen or Pencil for the Exam
- You are encouraged to bring electronic or physical notetaking materials
- Bring Lunch and Water (limited options in the area)
Clothing
- Eye and ear protection will be provided: Required at all ranges to protect your eyes and hearing from gunfire.
- Wear a hat: Protects your head and face from hot brass and debris.
- Wear long pants: Opt for long pants to cover exposed skin and protect against burns.
- Wear a long-sleeve shirt: Prevents hot brass from falling into your shirt.
- Wear Closed-toe shoes: Essential for safety, as they protect your feet from falling shell casings.
