Steel Target Pistol Shoot - Event moved to Thursday, May 6th -- CANCELED

COURSE OF FIRE:

This course will consist of each shooter engaging a series of steel targets.  Shooter will have 10 rounds and will fire until all rounds are expended.  Scoring will be based on time elapsed to fire all rounds.  Penalty time (2 seconds) will be added for each round which does not hit a target.

Targets will be a combination of steel targets of varying sizes.  All targets will be placed at a distance of 15 yards.

Shooting will be done in the standing position using one or two handed stance.

Any pistol or revolver may be used with any sights, except those that project an image onto the target.

SEQUENCE OF FIRE:

A maximum of 2 shooters will be on the line at the same time.  Each shooter will have a scorer/safety officer with them.  Identical steel target sets will be set up for each shooter.  When called forward, shooters will move to a shooting lane and bench their handgun in a safe condition.  Shooters may then load magazines (as necessary) with 10 rounds and insure their eye and ear protection are in place.  Once shooters are at the shooting line, the Range Officer will put up the red flag.

The Range Officer will then issue the following commands:

-“Shooters, keeping your weapon pointed up and downrange, load one magazine and assume a firing position”.

- “Shooters on the line, ready….…commence firing” (timer will start).

Relay shooters will then aim and fire at their own pace until they expend all rounds.  Shooters will reload as necessary on their own to fire the specified 10 rounds. Scorers will observe and verify target hits for assigned shooter.  Scorers will also record elapsed time for shooter.  Upon completion of firing, shooters will place their weapon back on shooting bench in safe and empty condition.  Once the last shooter has completed firing, Range Officer will command “Cease Fire” followed by “insure your weapon is safe and empty”.  The Range/Safety Officer will visually check each handgun to insure safe and empty.  At this time, the green flag will be put up and shooters will move back off the firing line.  Scorers will compute aggregate time for assigned shooter (elapsed time plus penalty time) and record this on scoresheet.

This sequence will continue until all shooters have completed all stages of the course.
